Quarantine Tech
We're all #SafeAtHome - spending a LOT of time within 4 walls. Sometimes it feels like a prison, right? It's a tough time.
What is there to DO? How do we connect? Keep ourselves INFORMED, ENTERTAINED...?
LOTS of businesses are in rough shape since they have no customers. But SOME technology companies will benefit during these times, because of the situation. They provide goods and services that are in higher demand because of people's unique needs right now. I just heard the stock report for a couple of these companies, and their profits are very good.
What technology-related companies do you think are doing well right now? Think of the products they offer - not just "tangible" products (like cars, food, and bird feeders) but software, or social sites, or......etc.
Give me some examples of these products or services that are very popular because they're needed during these times. I'm sure you're using at least one of them!
I'm guessing Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, Youtube, Instagram, Tik Tok, and Spotify are probably doing really good right now.

DeleteI think the online streaming services are doing amazing right now. Everyone finally has time to binge watch their favorite shows/ movies. Another online service that I would think is doing well is the online shopping companies. No one can go to malls and go into 15 different stores in a day, so online shopping is the best way to keep busy and excitement.

DeleteI think that a lot of power companies are making more money now like excel because a lot of people are staying home using a lot of power where if they were at home/school most of their homes power will be off but since they are home they are using more electricity

DeleteI think that the social apps are super important during this. It is really the only way to keep in touch. I think that all the streaming apps are doing well such as Hulu, Disney+, Netflix, Hbo. Online shopping is also a big one right now because you can't go into the store so that is the next best thing.

ReplyDeleteMost social media websites are doing well, that goes without saying, but I think other apps like Zoom and Houseparty are doing particularly well during this time, as well. Many businesses and individuals alike are turning to these video-call platforms to be able to meet up with friends and coworkers.
